Research shows that consumers are often frustrated that they don't know which packaging can or cannot be recycled. They want clear on-pack guidance to help them do the right thing. While recycling rates have improved in all of the UK nations, rates still lag behind other European countries. When you see the OPRL label on packaging you know that company is committed to supporting their customers in increasing recycling.

The On-Pack Recycling Label scheme aims to deliver a simple, consistent and UK-wide recycling message on both retailer and brand packaging - whether on groceries or DIY or health and beauty products - to help consumers recycle more material, more often.

Based on WRAP's recycle now website (www.recyclenow.com), the OPRL recycling label indicates which materials are collected for recycling by local authorities in the UK rather than the principle of whether or not they can be technically recycled.

The On-Pack Recycling Label scheme is administered by OPRL Ltd, a not-for-profit and wholly owned subsidiary of the British Retail Consortium. WRAP provides technical support and advice.
